Does God really love me?

Everyone wants to be loved, and everyone at some time feels as if they don't deserve to be loved. God understands what we feel and knows what we need. The Bible is very clear about how God feels about you. God tells us in the book of Jeremiah 31:3 that:

"I have loved you with an everlasting love;"

(from New International Version)

God also tells us in the familiar verse of John 3:16 that:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

(from New International Version)

Does God really love You? The answer to that question is loud and clear. YES! God does love you and He will always love you. God loves us not because we're perfect, but because He chooses to, and that will never change.

Do I have a purpose for my life?

Each of us wants to feel that we were created for a purpose. For some it is easy to see the impact they have with their life, but for others that impact is more difficult to identify. The significance and purpose I am talking about is not simply what we do for a living. It goes to the very heart of why we were created. The Bible tells us that we were created to have an abundant life. John 10:10b states:

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full

(from New International Version)

The Bible also tells us that we were created to worship God. Jesus said that the greatest thing we can do is to love God. Matt. 22:37-38 states:

37 Jesus replied: ”’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.”

(from New International Version)

Does God have a purpose for your life? YES! God has a full life planned for you and the path to finding that life is to direct your worship to Him. By doing what we were created to do, we will experience what God desires for us to experience.

Have I made to many mistakes for God to forgive me?

The one thing that keeps many people from finding peace with God is the many failures they have experienced. God knows all about our failures and the good news is, He still forgives us! One verse in the Bible that should give everyone hope is Romans 3:23. It tells us that all people have failed.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

(from New International Version)

That answers the question of whether or not we are the only one who seem to fail. The other question is: Does God forgive me? Many verses in the Bible give us the answer but one is especially clear. 1 John 1:9 says:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

(from New International Version)

You cannot make to many mistakes for God not to forgive. God forgives us of all our sins. That was the whole purpose of Jesus dying on the cross. His death was the final forgiving act for your sins. I encourage you not to let your past mistakes keep you from a relationship with God.

How can I know for sure that when I die, I will go to heaven?

As long as man has walked the earth the question of heaven or hell has been asked. The Bible is clear in it’s teaching about the reality of heaven and hell. The real question is not, is there a heaven and a hell, but where will I go when I die? Jesus was explaining this concept in Matt. 13:41-43. In this verse He tells us there are two possible destinations for us when we die.

41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

(from New International Version)

The question we need to ask at this point is: How can I be sure I will not go where there will be ‘weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Two key verses need to be looked at for the answer to this question. John 14:6 tells us that the only way to God is through Jesus and John 1:12 says that if we receive Jesus we will become part of God’s family.

John 14:6

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 1:12-13

12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

(from New International Version)

How can you be sure you will be with Jesus in heaven when you die? Accept Jesus as your only path to peace with God.

What do I do now?

If you need to find peace with God read the following prayer and consider using it as a guide. God offers us the privilege of finding peace with Him anytime we ask. All we have to do is ask.

Lord Jesus, I want to experience in my life the abundance you have promised. I also want to know for sure that when I die I will go to heaven to be with You. I accept You into my heart as my Lord and Savior today. Thank You for loving me and allowing me to be a part of Your family.

If you prayed this prayer or something similar to it, I welcome you to the Family of God. You are now a part of those who have Jesus as their savior and who will spend eternity with Him in heaven. I encourage you to let me know of your decision so I can direct you to Bible passages that will encourage you in your new life. I also want to encourage you to go to a church this Sunday and let the pastor know of your decision. It is important that you not let this be the end of this experience, but the beginning. God has wonderful things planned for you and I congratulate you again for your decision.

May God richly bless you as you walk with Him.
