Welcome to Summer!
Greetings from Center Church and I hope this newsletter finds you doing great. If I had one word to say about the summer of 2004 it would be busy. It has been a season of ministry opportunities and travel. First of all I was privileged to take the youth to Chicago June 5-11 for a mission trip. There were a total of 15 who went on the trip, 11 of which were youth from our church. Our youth spent many hours preparing for this trip, going over songs, Bible stories, learning the plan of salvation and how to share it, doing fundraisers to help with the cost and many other things. Our ministry destination was The Old St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in the west side of Chicago. It is an inner-city church located in a very depressed area. The youth did Vacation Bible School from Monday thru Thursday as well as attending the Sunday and Wednesday services. Along with the ministry of the Word, they also used their backs cleaning, painting and generally helping the church building look and little better. Before I move to the next thought I want to thank the Dennis, Debbie and Gina Whitehead for going as adult sponsors. It would be impossible for me to list all they did, but to put it simply, they were, and are, a true gift from God. Only in heaven will we see the fruit of this family’s labor and sacrifice for this trip and this youth group.
