Worship: A Lifestyle of Truth

In John 4, verse 24 the Word says, “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.”

“In spirit and in truth,” a statement easy to quote, yet difficult to grasp. God is spirit, God is the Word, God is the truth, and we worship… but it is difficult not to get side tracked. However, add music to the combination and one finds they are able to worship in a deeper place than the surface of the heart and mind.

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (5:19) encourages music. “Speak to one another in psalms [poems written to God], hymns [songs of praise to God], and spiritual songs [sporadic outbursts of praise to God].

In Romans 12:1, Paul urges us “in view of God’s mercy, to offer [our] bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is [our] spiritual act of worship.” There are numerous times to worship and countless ways to worship. Offering yourself to God is how worship was intended to take place. Whether reading, listening to sermons, Bible study, or singing at the top of your lungs to your favorite song, God wants us to worship.

We encourage you to take time during the week to offer praise, honor, and respect to our Heavenly Father and prepare to meet him as we worship together.
