Saturday/Sunday
We are here and we are safe and we are healthy!
We left out bright and early Saturday, with eager seats and minds, and ended 14 hours later a little tired and not so fresh. We had an uneventful trip, but the real treat was when we landed at the lodge. It is down some long, narrow, lonely gravel roads that end up at the Mississippi river. They are two silos that have been converted into a lodge, which was fantastic. Denise Dupre’ had gumbo, salad, and desert when we arrived and it was great.
We are very grateful for the safe trip and for Denise and her family for their hospilitiy.
On Sunday, we had time to eat a nice breakfast, have a devotional, and head out to see some sites before we landed at the hotel. We saw a plantation, the LA State capitol building, and LSU, and make it in time to check in, find our host church, and participate in the group meeting. The hotel is not completly repaired, which is what many buildings look like. The rooms are in pretty good shape, but there is still a lot of damage. Tomorrow, we will be heading out early to ‘gut out’ some houses. Please pray for us as we work in the heat and humidity. Also, pray that we will be sensitive to the people and work around us.
Well, I need to go for now. This is the second time to try, as the first time, I was kicked off line and lost my entry. YEA
Keep us in your prayers and Jamie, if you could, I need some SIMPLE instructions on how to add pictures to our site. If I can figure it out, I can send some for the church to view Wednesday.
Have a great week and thanks for the many prayers!

Friday, July 7 – One Day Till Take Off
Only one more day to prepare before we leave for New Orleans. It looks like all the details are coming together, which is no small accomplishment. As you read this, if you are one of the 24 going, remember, we are wanting to leave the church at 7:00 AM. We should have the vans there early enough to pack. Also, if you have not filled out a form with medical information yet, let me know and I will get one to you Saturday. It will not take too long.
Well, that is it for now. It is hard to believe we are only 24 hours away, and this time next week we will be starting our trip home. Keep us in your prayers and pray for the folks we will be seeing as we travel.
Five days from take-off
We are only five days from leaving for New Orleans and we are getting down to the details of the trip. As you read this, please continue to pray for our group as we prepare for the trip. We will be gutting some of the houses affected by Katrina, doing some area evangelistic events, and hopefully, have some time to see some of the area sites. Pray that God will use our group to shed the light of Christ to that area.
Our Mission
On our mission trip this year we are going to New Orleans to help with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. There will be 27 of us leaving on July 8 and we will return July 14. Please be in prayer as we prepare to help the ongoing ministry of Celebration Church. As time allows, there will be updates of our trip and any significant happenings.
Check back for more information and updates and thank you for your prayers!
